JAMMU, Dec 9: The IGP Traffic J&K, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, today reviewed traffic regulation and mobility management in Jammu City during a meeting with officers of Traffic City Jammu.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, DIG Traffic Jammu; Amit Bhasin, SSP Traffic City; Arvinder Singh Kotwal, Additional SP Traffic and all DySPs and DTIs.
The IGP Traffic J&K directed officers to identify key congestion points, study causes of traffic bottlenecks and implement practical, time-bound solutions.
He stressed the need for strong field presence, especially by DySPs and DTIs at peak hours and sensitive junctions, to regulate traffic and assist commuters.
He said Jammu City represents the region’s image, and traffic personnel must maintain professionalism, courtesy and efficiency.
The IGP Traffic J&K also instructed the Traffic City team to stay prepared for the winter migration period, when heavy vehicular flow is expected.
He called for stricter enforcement against overspeeding, wrong-lane driving and illegal parking, along with improved junction management and faster clearance of stalled vehicles.
He further emphasised better coordination with district police, municipal bodies and other stakeholders.
Choudhary directed officers to ensure daily monitoring of busy corridors, strengthen supervision and submit detailed decongestion plans with clear timelines.
The meeting concluded with officers reaffirming their commitment to ensuring smooth and safe traffic movement across Jammu City.
