JAMMU, Dec 12: M Suleman Choudhary, IGP Traffic J&K, visited Samba and Kathua districts today to assess the traffic situation and review the progress of ongoing construction projects, particularly the DAK Expressway.
Accompanied by SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Girdhari Lal, DySP Traffic Samba-Kathua Sukhdev Singh, and other Traffic Police officers, the IGP inspected critical traffic points along the NH-44 stretch from Jammu to Lakhanpur.
The visit primarily focused on congestion issues caused by construction work on the expressway, which has created bottlenecks and delays at key locations.
Areas reviewed included Balol Bridge near Hotel Sarover, JK Oil Mills Bari Brahmana, SIDCO Chowk, Bari Brahmana market, Bishnah cut, Railway cut, Sabzi Mandi Bari Brahmana, Marigold Palace, Palli Morh, Dayalachak Chowk, Chann Rorian, Rajbagh, Sakhtachak, Barnoti, and Hatli Morh.
The IGP stressed the need for smooth traffic management to avoid complete standstills, even if vehicles move slowly.
Officers were directed to use their expertise in traffic regulation, divert traffic where necessary, and ensure a steady flow in high-congestion zones.
Highlighting the importance of coordination, he urged traffic police, construction agencies, and other stakeholders to work together to minimize disruptions.
The IGP also emphasized the use of proper signage, alternative routes, and strategic planning to address traffic challenges.
He appealed to the public to remain patient and cooperative during this development phase, assuring them that efforts are being made to reduce inconvenience.
