LEH, Sept 3: Ladakh Buddhist Association has announced that if Kargil district was willing to stay with Kashmir, the people of Zanskar, Wakha, Mulbik and Darchik-Garkon, falling under Kargil, will support seeking UT status for Leh.
This was stated by Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) president Tsewang Thinles, during an Archery competition, organized by Moti Market Society Bakula Rinpoche, to commemorate the birth centenary celebration of late 19th Kushok Rinpoche at Indus Hotel Choglamsar.
He alleged that Kargil district never supported the Hill Council and Schedule Tribe movement and rather created problems for the same. “There may be political differences but for the common cause of Ladakh, we must remain united and doors are still open if Kargil District is willing to join Leh for seeking UT,” he said and added that in view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley, Ladakhis must stay united so that they could present their demand before the Central Government as was done during Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent visit to Leh when sidelining the political differences a common delegation presented UT demand and thus sent a strong message of unity for UT demand.
Highlighting late Bakula Rinpoche’s contribution towards the Ladakhi society, Tsewang Thinles said that the former emphasized to maintain communal harmony so that Ladakhis could unitedly demand for UT status and save the identity of Ladakh region.
Expressing his gratitude to Moti Market society for celebrating the Bakula Centenary, Christian community president Dechen Chamga, in his speech, said such celebration helps to know more about commendable contribution of late Bakula Rinpoche towards Ladakhi society.
The Bakula Centenary Organizing Committee vice chairman Morup Namgyal appealed the society to sponsor child education as Bakula was great education campaigner.
Ladakh Buddhist Association women wing president Tsewang Dolma, Merchant Association president Haji Riyaz Ahmed and Bakula Centenary Committee president Lobzang Wangchuk also spoke on the occasion.
