IETE Jammu Centre celebrates foundation day

JAMMU, Nov 2: Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Centre today celebrated its 62nd foundation day in a simple but impressive function, organized in collaboration with Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
Prof Vivek K Gupta, Head Department of Physics and Electronics JU, was chief guest on the occasion while Maj Gen (Retd) S  K Sharma, Principal MIET, was the guest of honour.
The theme of today’s function was “Role of IETE in Digital India”.
Dr Rakesh Vaid, Chairman, IETE Jammu Centre, in his inaugural address, introduced the topic and threw light on the concept of theme.  He said the Digital India concept includes various schemes worth over Rs one lakh crore, like Digital locker in which all citizens can digitally store their important documents.
Maj Gen (Retd) S K Sharma delivered a key note talk on “Latest Trends in Emerging Electronics”. In his talk he covered many useful technologies with special focus on Robotics and sensors.
Prof  Vivek Gupta  lauded the efforts of the IETE Jammu  team in promoting such academic activities and further suggested to organize such activities in future also in collaboration with IETE.
Dr Parveen Lehana, Secretary of the IETE Jammu Centre, read the message received from the president IETE, New Delhi, Smriti Dagur on the same theme and also presented the vote of thanks. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Renu Rajput, a Ph D scholar in the department.
Prominent among those present, were Dr Susheel Sharma, Dr Suresh Rao, Dr Rockey Gupta, Dr Radhika Khanna, Prof Romilla Malla Bhat, Dr Sandeep Arya, Jang Bhadur, Roshni Gupta besides many student members of IETE, research scholars and students of M Sc Electronics programme from the department of Physics and Electronics.
