IETE celebrates 72nd Foundation Day

JAMMU, Nov 28: The Jammu sub-centre of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) celebrated its 72nd Foundation Day today.
The celebrations held at Government Women College, Parade Ground, Jammu. The central theme for the event was “Indigenization of Hi-Tech & Critical Technologies”.
The programme commenced with traditional lamp lighting after which Dr Vijay Sharma, chairman, IETE Jammu sub centre, in his welcome address, gave history of the institution and brought out the importance of its activities for students. Message received from Sunil, president national IETE was read over to all by Dr Radhika Khanna, secretary IETE.
Dr Anup Shukla, Dean Student Affairs, IIT Jammu was the chief guest and the main resource person for the function. He dwelled on the need for indigenization of technologies for making India a Viksit Bharat.
Two senior members of IETE who have contributed immensely in advancing the technology in their field were honoured. They are Prof Parveen Lehana, FIET, former Head of the Electronics Department, University of Jammu and Sameer Sharma, Executive Engineer, J&K Power Development Department.
Dr Ravender Kumar Tickoo, Principal, Government Women College, Parade Ground, encouraged the participants to remain abreast with the latest advancements in varied technologies. Sandeepa Kumari and Supriya Sharm gave a power point presentation on the topic which was well received by all.
Dr Vishal Sharma, Dr Sarika Mahajan (both from GCW Parade) helped in smooth conduct of the event while Shreya Anand and Tanvi Dhar for anchored the event.
Those who graced the occasion included Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retired), Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Prof Rakesh Vaid, Col Manotra amongst others, Dr Romilla Malla Bhat (Principal, GDC Akhnoor).
The function came to close with a vote of thanks by Tinny Sawhney, treasure, IETE Jammu sub cetre.
