JAMMU, Nov 15: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India organised Horizon Series Programme at Red Cross Bhawan Auditorium, Kachi Chawni.
The legendary folk singer and a living repository of traditional music, Ghulam Mohd today mesmerized the audience with his out of the world singing style of ‘Karkan’.
Ghulam Mohd started his programme with the narrative of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi ‘Jotaan Jaagdiyan’ which transported the audience to a different world, unfolding before them the story of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi, followed by ‘Jammu Ek Dogren Da Sher Ji’ glorifying the beauty of Jammu city, its brotherhood, unique traditions and the symbols of its past glory and grandeur.
He was accompanied by a group of three more artists including Iqrar Mohd, Shamsher Mohd and Balwinder Kumar.
Earlier, Regional Director of ICCR, Balwant Thakur presented the welcome address and termed Ghulam Mohd a symbol of the secular traditions of arts. Though the prime objective of ICCR is to promote global understanding through cultural initiatives but the council also under its Horizon series showcases the local talent in performing arts.
Among others present were Pradhuman Singh, member, Advisory Committee, ICCR, Jammu, Romallo Ram, Folk singer, Ravi Sharma, composer, Dharmesh Nargotra, singer and many artists and music lovers.
