I&C Deptt holds one-day workshop

JAMMU, Aug 26: Department of Industries &Commerce, Jammu in collaboration with NABARD organized a one day workshop on industrial potential and potential linked credit plan of NABARD for Jammu district here, today to deliberate on the credit requirement of MSMEs and investment potential in Jammu district.
General Manager, DIC Jammu, Namrita Dogra, DDM NABARD,  Priya Ranjan, Joint Director I&C ,  Sandesh Sharma, Joint Director, Handloom Jammu, Deputy Director, Tourism Jammu and officers from Health Department, Handicrafts Department and Functional Managers, Project Managers and field officers of Industries & Commerce Department attended the workshop.
During the workshop, DDM NABARD Jammu, Priya Ranjan gave a power point presentation regarding the priority sectors in the credit lending and the role of NABARD in preparing plan for credit lending, monitoring and coordination between various departments. It was stated that MSME is one of the key sectors for the credit lending by the banks as this sector plays an important role in employment generation. It was stated that under MSME dairy farming, food processing, honey extraction, bamboo basket making, silk weaving and reeling, spices grinding etc are kept as priority sector.
It was informed that there is provision of single window clearance for credit linkage under these sectors. It was brought to the notice that presently one crore in loan is made available to the MSME that too in just 59 minutes along the 2 to interest subvention for all the GST registered MSME units.
The officers of Handloom and Handicrafts Department deliberated on the lack of credit lending in these sectors and the reasons why these sectors have not come up in a big way in Jammu district.
