NEW DELHI, Dec 29: The much awaited order of provisional allocation of IAS and IPS officers for the newly created State of Telangana was issued here today by the DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training) whereby 128 IAS and 92 IPS officers have been allocated to Telangana cadre whereas a total of 166 IAS and 119 IPS officers have been allocated to Andhra Pradesh from which the Telangana State was carved out.
This was disclosed here today by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in his capacity as Minister in-charge of DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training), who said that following this allocation, the functioning of the administration in the two States is expected to get streamlined.
Dr Jitendra Singh further informed that a fresh window will be kept open to all officers to opt for swapping with another officer within the same category and in the same grade – pay as on 1st June 2014. January 10t is the last date by when officers can apply for cadre swap. The list will be finalized in 45 days of the publication of provisional allocations, he added.
Elaborating further, Dr Jitendra Singh said, an officer applying for cadre swap would, however, be required to indicate the reason for it. Officers who seek change would be arranged in the order of seniority in the respective State in terms of category in the respective grade pay and the swap would be done on the basis of seniority and pay grade from the lists of officers of two cadres, he explained.
He further stated that swapping of officers belonging to IAS, IPS and IFS could also be allowed primarily on the ground of marriage in case the spouse had not been allocated the same cadre as his or her partner. Those couples, however, he said, who have been allocated to the same cadre would not be allowed the option of swapping based on the ground of marriage.
At the same time, the DoPT order clarifies that when one of the spouses opts for a change, regardless of the fact whether the other spouse is in the same cadre or not, the other spouse would not have the choice to represent later for a shift on the marriage ground.
