HYDERABAD, Jan 14 : The Military College of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, has been adjudged as one of the ‘Best Training Establishments of the Indian Army’ and was awarded the ‘Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) Unit Appreciation’ on the eve of Army Day 2026.
The prestigious honour was conferred by the Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, , during an investiture ceremony held at the Sapta Shakti Auditorium, Jaipur, in the presence of veterans and senior military officers, a defence release said here on Wednesday.
The award was received by the Commandant, MCEME, Lt Gen Neeraj Varshney, along with the Subedar Major.
This marks a historic first in MCEME’s eight-decade-long legacy since its raising in 1946.
The recognition acknowledges the institution’s sustained efforts over the past two years to transform training methodologies and deliver cutting-edge technical education to officers and jawans of the Corps of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers (EME).
Aligned with the Indian Army’s vision of the “Decade of Transformation”, MCEME has undertaken extensive modernisation of its training infrastructure.
Advanced laboratories have been upgraded, classrooms rejuvenated into technology-enabled learning spaces, and curricula comprehensively revised to incorporate emerging domains such as ‘drones, additive manufacturing, robotics and unmanned aerial attack vectors’.
Operationally relevant, ‘Operation Sindoor-based experiential learning’ has also been integrated across all courses.
Reinforcing its focus on innovation and self-reliance, MCEME trainees have developed an indigenous ‘robotic assistant ‘Paricharak’, designed to automate routine services.
The institution’s technology-driven ecosystem enables trainees to design, assemble, operate, maintain and employ drones effectively, enhancing preparedness for future battlefield scenarios.
In support of Atmanirbhar Bharat, MCEME has strengthened collaboration with Telangana-based industries and academic institutions, contributing to the development of indigenous solutions across critical domains including radars, missiles, armoured systems, space applications and drone warfare. These initiatives align with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, emphasising jointness, technology absorption and outcome-driven decision-making.
