Hundreds of devotees throng Navdal shrine

JAMMU, Aug 17: The annual Navdal yatra was held at Navdal Tirath, Tral in South Kashmir district of Pulwama connection with concluding ceremony of holy Amarnath yatra by Kashmiri Pandits as per Puranic traditions. The yatra was organised by Navdal Tirath Committee a constituent of Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee Tral Awantipora led by Dr Ramesh Bhat its president.
The ceremony was held yesterday with religious fervor and enthusiasm in which large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir valley participated and performed Rudhra Abhishekh as per tradition. A grand function was held for the first time this year by the Committee and a Maha Yagya was solemnized for the first time at the holy place after the mass exodus of Kashmir Pandits.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees including the security. The Hawan started on August 14 and concluded with Puranahuti yesterday. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
The DDC members of Tral Dr Harbaksh Singh, Avtar Singh besides president Tirath Raj Mattan, Ashok Sidha and Puran Ji Thusu were also present during the religious function.
The CO 180 CRPF also participated in the function and provided all security in installing tents for devotees during the function.
The Committee made an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha who is also the Chairman of the SASB that the concluding ceremony of annual Amarnath yatra be held at Navdal Tral as has been a tradition prior to mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits to restore the pristine glory of this shrine.
