REASI, Aug 2: Hundreds of people today attended last rites of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer, Rajinder Singh Rana and his minor son who lost their lives when a landslide hit their vehicle near Dharmari late last evening.
Wails of sobbing family members and relatives rented the air as coffins of the young officer and his minor son were lifted on shoulders and taken out for cremation in the native village.
Besides family members, relatives and local villagers, hundreds of people had assembled for paying their last tribute to the young officer, who was presently serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramnagar. Click here to watch video
There was a pall of gloom and everyone was in tears as sibling lit pyres of Rajinder Singh Rana and his minor son with shaking hands.
Officers from Police and the District administration besides colleagues of Rajinder Singh Rana attended the last rites and paid their tribute to the departed souls.
Rajinder Singh Rana, a JKAS officer of 2011 batch who was presently serving as SDM Ramnagar, lost his life along with his son after a massive landslide hit their Bolero vehicle in the Salukh Ikhter Nallah area near Dharmari, here late last evening.
The incident also left six others seriously injured, including Rajinder Singh’s wife, their daughter, Rana’s cousin, and the cousin’s wife, who are undergoing treatment at hospital.
The family was travelling from Dharmari to their native village Pattiya when the tragic accident took place resulting into on the spot death of Rajinder Singh Rana and his minor son, who was in the lap of father.
