Huge cache of illicit liquor seized by Kathua police

KATHUA, June 1: In a major breakthrough in its drive against the trade of illicit liquor, today Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R.C Kotwal seized a huge cache of illicit liquor from Maggar Khad area of Kathua Police Station (PS).
Acting on reliable information regarding the trade of illicit liquor by three unknown persons from Punjab towards J&K via Maggar Khad area, a police party led by Inspector, Yash Paul Sharma incharge Police Post (PP) Industrial Estate Kathua under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua, Shammi Kumar – rushed to the spot and laid down a naka at Jagatpur Palai, Kathua.
On seeing police party these unknown persons managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind 04 gunnies abandoned which contains some cartoons of illicit liquor. During checking 10 cartoons of illicit liquor and each cartoon containing 12 bottles of MC Dowell’s No. 01 Whisky of 750ml each thus by making a total of 120 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor were seized. In this regard a case vide FIR No. 273/2021 U/S 48(a)/50 Excise Act got registered at PS Kathua and further investigation is underway.
