HSM releases Hindi poetry collection ‘Tawi Ki Dhara’

JAMMU, Sept 25: A Hindi poetry collection of women poets of Jammu Region, titled ‘Tawi Ki Dhara’ was launched by Hindi Sahitya Mandal (HSM), in a function held here today.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest of the function and Prof (Dr) Parmeshwari Sharma, former HoD Hindi presided over the programme.
Dr Chanchal Dogra formally welcomed the guests, writers and the lovers of literature.
Speaking on this occasion Prof (Dr) Parmeshwari Sharma, in her presidential address, said that the female poetesses have contributed in a very positive way, to the poetry collection ‘Tawi Ki Dhari’.
She said the poetesses of Jammu & Kashmir are at par with those in any part of the country.
“The poems in the book relate to the women empowerment of the region where Tawi River is flowing,” she added.
Dr Javaid Rahi applauded the fact that the book is dedicated to the women poets of the region and other parts of the country.
Acharya Dr Sapna Devi of Mahanpur Degree College presented her paper on the released book.
‘Tawi Ki Dhara’ is a collection of more than 100 poems of 19 female poets from Jammu and 4 guest poets from outside Jammu, associated with the Mandal.
The poetesses whose poetry have been included in the book are Alka Sharma, Amita Mehta, Anita Gupta, Aruna Sharma Chanchal Dogra, Deep Shikha, Kanchan Soi, Kshama Kaul, Manto Dutta Sharma, Rachna Vinod, Rajni Kapoor, Shivani Anand, Suman Pal, Sumit Soodan, Uma Sharma, Veena Tandon, Vijaya Thakur (from Jammu), Neena Andhotra and Shashi Padha (NRIs from Jammu) and guest poetesses- Niranjana Dange, Ragini Preet, Rita Koushal and Shaveta Pandey ‘Khushboo’.
The programme was coordinated by Rakesh Abrol and proceedings were conducted by Uma Sharma and vote of thanks was extended by Jang S Verman.
