SHIMLA, Oct 25 : The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister SS Sukhu, today approved the conversion of 1,000 existing diesel/petrol taxis into electric taxis. This move provides a 40 percent subsidy under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Yojna.
The Cabinet approved significant amendments to the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna to benefit more students. The family income limit for beneficiary students was tripled, increasing from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per annum. Additionally, the education loan facility at a one percent interest rate will now include post-graduation courses.
The honorarium for Special Police Officers (SPOs) was enhanced by Rs 300 per month, benefiting 510 SPOs, effective from April 1, 2025.
Ex-post facto approval was granted for an honorarium increase of Rs 500 per month for various contract workers, including SMC teachers, IT Computer Teachers, Mid-Day Meal Workers, and Part-Time Water Carriers, effective from April 1, 2025.
The Cabinet also approved granting 15 days of paternity leave to male contract employees in the State.
The construction of Nahan Medical College was approved at a newly selected site for expansion.
The Cabinet approved the framing of a new Resident Doctors Policy-2025 and gave in-principle approval for a scheme to regulate the appointment of Assistant Staff Nurse.
The proposal to shift 32 newly created posts of Assistant Professors to the department of Emergency Medicines across concerned medical colleges was approved. This move affects IGMC Shimla, Dr. RPGMC Tanda, SLBSGMC Ner Chowk, and Dr. RKGMC Hamirpur.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of a separate State Cadre for Junior Office Assistant (IT) under the Directorate of Recruitment, creating 300 posts as Job Trainees in the first phase.
The Cabinet approved the proposal to streamline the implementation and monitoring mechanism for the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojna and the H.P Crop Diversification Project (JICA-Phase-II).
A Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted under Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi to finalise the draft Rural Area Development guidelines. These guidelines, in the form of Model By-laws, will regulate construction activities in Gram Panchayats.
The Cabinet also approved including 19 new games-such as Baseball, Para sports, Rugby, Mallakhamb, Wushu, and Kickboxing-in the list that qualifies meritorious sportspersons for consideration for appointment to state services (Group A, B, C, and D posts).
