House gutted in Mandi

POONCH, May 17: A three-storey residential house along with the goods inside, was gutted in a major fire incident at Biyaran Batalkote village in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district, causing major loss to the property.
Official sources and locals said that at about 12:00 noon on Saturday, a residential house caught fire after which family members and locals started extinguishing it followed by J&K Police but till the fire was brought under control, the house along with goods inside were turned into ashes. Fortunately, no loss of human or animal life was reported in the incident.
Eye witnesses said that though the fire and emergency services reached on the spot from Mandi but if one of the vehicle would have been stationed here in Loran for the population of thousands of people.
There was possibility of less loss of property and goods in this fire incident. Officials have identified house owner as Mohd Shahid, son of Mushtaq Ahmed resident of ward number 7, Biyaran area in Loran, who have urged administration to provide assistance.
As far as the cause of fire is concerned, locals said that the incident happened due to electric short circuit during which the goods of marriage which was held one week ago and other items were burnt completely but on contacting Station House Officer Loran, SI Navid Anjum said that the cause of fire is still being ascertained.
