JAMMU, Sept 6: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has blamed both the Centre and the State Govt for their utter failure to revive the Jammu tourism industry which perhaps suffered a great set back with the extension of rail-link to Katra.
President Inderjeet Khajuria in a statement issued here said that the tall claims of the Prime Minister of India and Chief Minister of the State with regard to assuring Jammu traders that Jammu will never be allowed to become Pathankot have proved disgusting.
He further said In the name of development of Jammu tourism which provides livelihood to more than five lakh tourism dependent souls including women and children, neither the State nor the Central Government has taken any initiative to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination despite the lapse of half the financial year 2015-16.
“The mass mandate by Jammuites to present coalition of BJP and PDP despite great hopes has yielded nothing. The ongoing tourism projects which were started by the outgoing coalition Government with a view to attract tourists/pilgrims to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination are facing total neglect by the present dispensation.
No Govt in the State so far has been actually sincere in making the city of temples an independent tourist destination,” Mr Khajuria blamed.
Criticizing the State Govt for their day today statements for equal treatment being provided to the three regions of the State Khajuria said almost every development step initiated by the coalition Govt is aimed directly or indirectly in the promotion of Kashmir valley and Jammu as usual is left with the statements only.
