JAMMU, Feb 2: Home guards took out a protest rally here today and demanded implementation of Supreme Court order.
Amid slogans, large number of home guards assembled near Press Club under the banner of All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association and took out a protest.
While speaking, Kamla Sharma, President of the Association said that though home guards are performing their duties effectively and devotedly, but it is unfortunate that the authorities sitting on the helm of the affairs have ignored and deprived the home guards of the benefits granted by Supreme Court in 2015.
She added that Supreme Court order of granting pay scales to home guards has been implemented in different states like New Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Mp, Gujarata, Rajasthan, Andoman and Nicobar, etc, but the order has not been implemented in J&K.
“Chief Minister is very much interested for the welfare and upliftment of the home guards of J&K, but yet the Supreme Court order has not been implemented in letter and spirit in the state, which has put these poor home guards personnel to huge financial hardships”, Sharma added.
She urged the Government to ensure immediate implementation of the Supreme Court order foe extending benefits to home guards.
Among others present were Santosh Kumari, Kailash Devi, Shashi, Darshana, Sunita, Usha, Pawan Kumari, Krishan Lal, Rakesh, Gopal Dass, Pawan Kumar, Soba Singh, Varinder Singh, etc.
