Home Guards stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, Aug 31: Home Guards struggling for their long pending demands today held protest demonstration at Mubarak Mandi here today.
Led by president of All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association, Kamla Sharma,   the Home Guards raised loud slogans in support of their demands. They were demanding enhancement of their wages and regularization of the services as Constables in Police.
They pointed out that the Home Guards are getting a meager salary of Rs 60  while the Police Constables are getting Rs 1200 to Rs 1500 per day, which is great injustice.  They further said that Apex Court has issued orders to appoint  them as  Constables in the Police Department but Home Guards are deprived of such benefits.
Mrs Sharma pointed out that as per the directions of the Supreme Court the Home Guards in MP, HP, Punjab and several other States are enjoying the same benefits as being accorded  to the  Police cops, while Home Guards in J&K are deprived of such benefits.  She urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to address their long pending issues.
