JAMMU, Aug 29: The inmates of Home for Aged & Infirm here today came forward to support flood hit people and resolved to prepare and distribute 500 food packets for lunch and dinner for the victims of the tragedy.
The inmate elders expressed that at this hour of crisis, when countless families are battling hardship and hunger, it is their moral duty to stand up and contribute meaningfully.
One of the inmates said, “We may be old but our hearts remain young in spirit. The Home thrives because of society’s support and today when the society is in pain, how can we remain silent? This is our humble effort to give back to the very people who have stood with us over the years.”
A handout stated that the inmates, despite their age and physical limitations are enthusiastically participating in this effort offering their time, energy and blessings to ensure that the affected families feel cared for and supported in this difficult time.
The Managing Committee of the Home has wholeheartedly endorsed this initiative describing it as an exemplary act of service and an inspiration for the wider community.
They have also appealed to other organizations, philanthropists and individuals to come forward and extend similar support to the flood victims.
This remarkable act by the senior citizens stands as a shining reminder that kindness knows no age and service to humanity is the greatest expression of gratitude and love.
