JAMMU, Aug 27: The silver mace of Lord Shiva led by Deependra Giri its sole custodian today reached Sheshnag on its way to holy cave of Shri Amarnath.
The holy mace will leave Sheshnag tomorrow afternoon for Panchtarni the last haltage point on Chandanwari track to holy cave. After a night halt there it will leave for cave shrine situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir’s district of Anantnag during the wee hours of Shravan Puranmashi falling on August 29.
After the day long pooja -archana in cave shrine the holy mace will return to Panchtarni in the evening on the same day. On August 30 the holy mace will leave for Pahalgam and after a night halt at Pahalgam the relics will be immersed in river Lidder next. This will be followed by serving the Prashad to devotees. Later the holy mace will leave for Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar. With this the two month long annual Amarnath yatra will culminate.
The holy mace which left the Dashnami Akhara for cave shrine on August 25 after paying obeisance in various temples enroute reached pahalgam on the same day. After a night halt at Pahalgam it left for Chandanwari yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, 324 pilgrims performed darshan of naturally formed ice lingam on the 57th day of the ongoing yatra today. With this the total number of pilgrims performing darshan in cave shrine since the first batch of yatra left Jammu on July 1 has touched 3,52,160.
