Srinagar, Nov 2: Criticizing Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission for its decision to conduct interview of doctors in Jammu, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today demanded that the interview for the post of medical officers should be held in Kashmir.
Dismayed by the decision, the DAK president, Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said ‘it is unfair’ to conduct interview of doctors in Jammu at a time when Kashmir is facing crisis. “It is unfortunate that for the convenience and comfort of few officials, interview of hundreds of doctors will be conducted in Jammu. These doctors include Postgraduates and Registrars/Senior Residents who are the backbone of tertiary care hospitals,” he said.
Calling them to Jammu for interview will affect the functioning of the hospitals, said Dr Nisar, adding that these doctors were being called at a time when medical emergency has been declared in Kashmir. “With huge number of specialist doctors going to Jammu for interview, patient care will be affected,” he said.
The DAK president said hundreds of doctors who have qualified in the screening test have been called to Jammu for interview which is being held from November 09-12, 2016. “While the written test was held both in Srinagar and Jammu, but surprisingly for the oral test there is no centre in Kashmir. Many of the aspiring doctors will miss the opportunity as they will not be able to go in view of their tight schedule in hospitals,” he said.
Dr Nisar alleged that ‘the interview is solely conducted to pave way to blue-eyed doctors otherwise written test is enough to assess the doctors for the posts’.
