JAMMU, Mar 30: A man died today when the scooty he was riding on was hit by a Government vehicle here near Rotary Chowk falling under the jurisdiction of police post Parade.
According to a police spokesperson, the man identified as Neeraj Gupta son of Puran Chand, a resident of Purani Mandi, was going on his scooty bearing registration No JK02BH-2253 when a speeding Scorpio car bearing registration No JK01N-3803 coming from opposite side hit his two-wheeler near Rotary Chowk.
The seriously injured person was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 8 pm.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at concerned police station and the driver of the scorpio identified as Gurcharan Singh, son of Harbans Singh, a resident of Singhpura (Baramulla), arrested. Both the vehicles involved in the accident have also been seized by the police.
