JAMMU, Sept 9: Jammu Police apprehended a truck driver within 24 hours of a fatal hit-and-run accident at Kunjwani main chowk.
The incident took place on September 8 around 5:40 PM when an unknown vehicle hit a motorcycle (JK02DF-7221) driven by Jitender Singh of Preet Nagar, Digiana. The injured was rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar by the Flying Squad of PS Gangyal but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police registered FIR Number 98/2025 under sections 281/125(a) BNS at PS Gangyal and formed a special team led by SHO Gangyal. The team, after examining CCTV footage and conducting field verification, traced the vehicle and driver within a day.
The accused was identified as Ravinder Singh, son of Avtar Singh, a resident of Brevi Kalakote in Rajouri. He was driving an HP Gas truck (JK02CT-5856), which was intercepted from Transport Nagar, Narwal. Both the vehicle and the driver have been seized, and further investigation is underway.
