JAMMU, May 31: A suspended Government school teacher, already involved in ten FIRs, has been sent to judicial custody for fifteen days in a fresh case of fraud.
He has been lodged in jail following his arrest by the Crime Branch Jammu.
The accused, Jameel Anjum, of Ustad Mohalla Jammu, was arrested after a case was registered on the written complaint of Rashid Manhas from Gujjar Nagar, a Crime Branch official said.
He said the complainant alleged that Anjum duped him of Rs 10 lakh in cash and gold worth Rs 5 lakh on the false promise of providing Government jobs to him and his sister.
According to the Crime Branch official, the accused had provided fake appointment letters to both victims as part of the scam.
“The allegations were found to be true during the investigation,” he said.
The Crime Branch official said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police has been constituted by SSP Crime Jammu Benam Tosh to carry out a thorough probe in the matter.
The SIT is investigating the wider racket behind such fraudulent activities related to fake Government job offers, he said.
Further investigation is ongoing to identify other possible victims and co-accused in the case, he added.
