POONCH, Apr 17: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader of the State has demanded that Government should frame a Pir Panjal Pahari Gujjar Autonomous Development Council in Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern of Ladakh Hill Development Council.
In a statement issued here, he said that area of Pir Panjal Gujjar region is a backward area. The people of this area are economically, socially and politically backward. It is the southern mountain range of the State and the district Poonch and Rajouri including tehsils Mahore and Gulabgarh of Reasi district and tehsil Gool of Ramban district lies in this region.
Mr Hakla said that in view of the utter backwardness of this area, Government should take effective measures for overall development of this area. Shamsheer Hakla urged the Government to frame a Pir Panjal Gujjar Antonomous Development Council.
