High time to root out organized crime, mafia networks in J&K: DGP

SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat today said it is high time to root out organized crime and mafia networks from the Union Territory.
The DGP made these remarks during his visit to the Crime Branch Headquarters in Srinagar, where he reviewed the unit’s functioning, progress of investigations, and key ongoing cases including cybercrime and financial frauds.
He was received by senior officers, including the IGP Crime, and later chaired a meeting to assess the overall performance of the branch.
During the interaction, he urged officers to pursue cases with honesty, speed, and thorough documentation to strengthen investigation and ensure successful prosecution.
The DGP also directed the officers to ensure that the organised crime and mafia networks are rooted out from the Union Territory.
Stressing the importance of technology in modern policing, the DGP said that officers would be given further training and support, especially in dealing with cyber and economic crimes.
He appreciated the efforts of the Crime Branch so far and encouraged the staff to maintain their commitment and professionalism.
This visit was part of his ongoing field reviews aimed at enhancing coordination and efficiency across police units in Jammu and Kashmir.
