JAMMU, Nov 27: LG Manoj Sinha and leaders across party lines paid heartfelt tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra, the former finance minister and esteemed statesman of Jammu and Kashmir, on his 37th death anniversary today.

The main function was organized at Dogra Chowk, here today which was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, several BJP leaders, serving MLAs and family members of late Girdhari Lal Dogra.
LG Manoj Sinha paid floral tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra. Later, in a post on X, LG Sinha wrote, “Paid tributes to Shri Girdhari Lal Dogra Ji on his death anniversary. He will be remembered as a multifaceted personality who contributed immensely to the welfare of poor and marginalized sections of our society. His life and ideals will inspire generations to come.”
Daughter of Girdhari Lal Dogra, Nidhi Dogra (Advisor, Dogra Samaj Trust) was also present there. She said, ‘I would just like to say that if we have relations with anyone today, then it is because of Dogra sahab’s values. He taught us everything. Today, even after so many years, people are remembering him. He never looked at anyone with discrimination. Today everyone has come to this program. Today my respect for my father has increased. The contribution he has made for Jammu and Kashmir is commendable.”
Ravinder Sharma (chief spokesperson, JKPCC) said, “Dogra sahab’s works are cited as examples even after 37 years. There have been a few leaders of J&K, whose example will always be cited. Girdhari Lal is at the top among them. Girdhari Lal was the epitome of honesty. He had a relationship and love with the public. Despite being the Finance Minister for 27 years, there is no stain on him. Today’s politicians should learn from him.’
MLA Vijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, MLA Bahu Vikram Randhawa and several other BJP leaders attended the program and paid tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra.
Meanwhile, a solemn program was organized at the headquarters of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) to pay tributes to late Dogra sahib. The event was attended by various prominent leaders who reflected on the immense contributions made by Dogra during his illustrious career.
Those who paid tributes include Raman Bhalla (working president), Ch Lal Singh (Ex MP), Ravinder Sharma (chief spokesperson), Ranjish Sharma (treasurer), Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Namrata Sharma, Bhushan Dogra, Sanjeev Panda, Dr R K Khajuria, Michael, Jatinder Bhagat, Jung Bhadur, Parvinder Singh, Jagdish Bhagat, Janak Mehra, Ranjit Manhas and Parvinder Singh.
Former MLC Subash Chander Gupta paid rich tribute to Girdhari Lal Dogra, at Hiranagar Morh in Kathua district. While paying tributes to Dogra, Gupta recalled his contribution for the development of J&K state. “The people of our state are proud that such a charismatic leader was borne here at village Bhiya of Hiranagar,” he added. Rakesh Choudhry (senior leader) also paid tribute to Dogra sahib.
