Heart evaluation camp held at Home for Aged & Infirm

Jammu, Apr 5: A Heart Diseases Awareness Camp was organized at Old Age Home Ambphalla Jammu today. All inmates were examined during the camp, which was organized under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College Jammu along with a team of doctors which consisted of Dr.Arvind Kohli (Cardiac Surgeon), Dr. D Kapoor, Dr. Najmus Saqib, Dr. Atul Vij and supporting staff namely Waryam Singh, Kashmiri Lal, Rajesh Sharma, Kamal Sharma, Pritam and volunteers Gourav Sharma, Viney and Lokesh.
In the camp, the patients were given benefit of diagnostic tests like ECG, biochemistry and free medicines. In addition, Dr Sushil Sharma highlighted the role of early diagnosis and treatment of heart ailments and for that regular medical examination is important especially in patients who are having risk factors for coronary artery disease like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidaemia and family history of heart diseases.
Further, Dr Sharma stressed upon the prevalence of heart diseases in old people and need to give due attention to this strata of society living in old age home who not only need medical care at regular intervals but social support so as to fight any kind of physical or mental ailments and camps like this help in alleviating the problems affecting old people who need compassion and support
Vijay Kumar Bhagotra, the Honorary Secretary of the Home for Aged and Infirm was also present.
