Health staff condemns assault on doctor

DODA, May 30: The staff of Health Department including doctors, paramedics and clerical staff working in District Doda today strongly condemned the assault and manhandling on Medical Officer NTPHC Kastigarh Dr Mirza Nadeem and demanded strict action aginst those who are involved in the activity.
In a statement issued to media, the aggrieved employees of Health Department said that on 28-05-2021, one Swarn Veer Singh Jaral who happens to be the son of DDC Member Kastigarh along with Riaz Ahmed (self styled media person) entered the hospital premises and started abusive language with Medical Officer on duty and later on assaulted him and threatened him of dire consequences and anyhow he managed to escape from the spot where he was kept hostile by those goons for no reasons.
The health employees said that they put in their blood and sweat to save patients in extremely hard conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic and instead of appreciation, they are being targetted and assaulted, adding that brute act of hooliganism against health staff is unacceptable.
One of the senior doctor from Health Department said these episodes have become a routine where medical staff have been unnecessary harassed and it is difficult for them to work in such hostile condition and termed the incident of NTPHC Kastigarh as unfortunate as at a time when whole medical fraternity is working tirelessly and risking their lives in battling the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
The employees called upon the district administration and district police to immediately book the culprits and take stringent action against the involved persons besides. They urged District Information Officer Doda to initiate enquiry against the self styled media person involved in this case who is working against the media ethics and norms.
