Health care camp for blind organised

JAMMU, Sept 20: Department of Cardiology, GMC Jammu today organized a heart care camp at Residential School for Blind at Roop Nagar, Jammu in which more than 60 visually handicapped were examined.
Camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Sushil Sharma, Head Department of cardiology, GMCH along with Dr Dhaneshwar Kapoor, Dr. Achint Singh, Dr. Vijay Kumar and para medicals including Kamal Sharma and Sanjay Sharma. Volunteers included Gourav Sharma, Vikas Kumar and Mohan Krishan.
All visually handicapped inmates which included children of residential school were examined and relevant investigations were done. Free medicines were also given to the needy patients. Dr Sharma highlighted need for maintaining hygiene, proper nutrition and need for surveillance for diseases in this subset of blind patients.
Referring to visually handicapped patients, Dr. Sushil said that they are God’s special creations who need extra care and love. “I believe, we should do as much as we can to make their life more comfortable and meaningful. We should be their friends and followers all the time. It is our love which will make them feel that they are special and need extra-care,” said Dr Sharma.
“As a cardiologist, I am always available for such great cause”, said Dr. Sushil. He later gave detailed account of activities which, he said, should be done to keep track of cardiac health of these special creations of God. Office bearers of Residential School for Blind who were part of this camp and who appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sushil Sharma and his team included Suprintendent of School for Blind Mohit Bharti, Veera Bali and Shamim.
