WASHINGTON, Nov 8: Extending his “complete endorsement” to Vivek Ramaswamy for the 2026 Ohio Governor race, President Donald Trump called Ramaswamy “something special” and praised Ohio as a “great state.”
Asserting that Ramaswamy would make a “great Governor” if elected, Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of the great state of Ohio, a place I love and won big, three times, in 2016, 2020, and 2024! I know Vivek well, competed against him, and he is something special. He is young, strong, and Smart! Vivek is also a very good person, who truly loves our country.”
The President also emphasized Ramaswamy’s key policy positions, which include efforts to grow the economy, reduce taxes and regulations, promote American-made products, champion energy dominance, and strengthen national security.
Trump highlighted Ramaswamy’s focus on law and order, securing the US border, and protecting the Second Amendment (the right to bear arms).
“As your next Governor, Vivek will fight tirelessly to grow the economy, cut taxes and regulations, promote Made In The USA, champion American energy dominance, keep our now very secure border, stop migrant crime, strengthen our military/veterans, ensure law and order , advance election integrity, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump wrote.
Trump concluded by reiterating his support: “Vivek Ramaswamy will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio and has my complete and total endorsement — he will never let you down!”
Ramaswamy, who is a biotech entrepreneur and former presidential candidate, thanked Trump for his endorsement, writing on X, “Thank you, President Trump! Let’s make Ohio greater than ever.”
On November 5, Ramaswamy emphasized that the Republican Party must focus on economic issues and avoid identity politics in future elections, noting that Republicans need to refocus on economic messaging to win elections.
Ramaswamy, 38, is running as an outsider with a pro-business and deregulation agenda. His platform aligns closely with Trump’s, advocating for American energy independence and a tougher stance on immigration and border security. He has positioned himself as a conservative reformer with a focus on economic growth and job creation.
Ohio’s governorship will be vacant after current Republican Governor Mike DeWine leaves office.
While recent polling shows Democrat hopeful Amy Acton with a slight lead, Trump’s endorsement could provide a significant boost for Ramaswamy in this conservative-leaning state.
Ramaswamy had previously worked with Trump as a co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a collaboration with tech billionaire Elon Musk.
This role focused on government spending cuts and regulatory reform, further aligning Ramaswamy with Trump’s policy goals. Before launching his gubernatorial bid, Ramaswamy was known for his work in the biotech industry and his advocacy for government efficiency.
His outsider status and strong support for pro-business policies have earned him the backing of conservative circles, and Trump’s endorsement only strengthens his position in the upcoming Ohio race. (UNI)
