JAMMU, Jan 10: Vacation Judge of the High Court, Justice B L Bhat today directed the respondents to formulate policy for the regularization of daily wagers working in the High Court.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Safaiwalas, who were engaged on daily rated basis on different dates from the year 1999 to 2006. The grievance was that respondents were not regularizing their services despite the fact that they have put in more than seven years of continuous service.
After hearing Advocate Sudershan Sharma for the petitioners, Justice Bhat observed, “it is pointed out that the State Government has enacted laws, framed rules and issued SROs for regularization of daily rated/casual labourers, contractual, adhoc and consolidated employees working in the State Government departments benefitting thousands of employees. However, petitioners serving in Jammu wing of the High Court have been left out of consideration and no policies/schemes have been formulated for their regularization”.
While disposing of the petition, Justice Bhat directed the respondents to formulate a policy/scheme for regularization of daily rated workers engaged by the High Court, who have put in more than seven years of continuous service. “This exercise shall be undertaken and concluded within a period of three months from the date the copy of this order is served upon the respondents”, the High Court further directed.
