Srinagar, May 16: High Court has sought an affidavit from the Government of India detailing the disbursement of compensation to the victims in Tosamaidan firing range within two weeks.
The direction followed after the counsel representing J&K informed the court that most of the documents have been furnished to the office of the counsel representing GoI with regard to identification of victims of firing range in order to provide compensation to them and rest of documents will be shared to him within three days.
With these submissions made by the UT counsel, the GoI counsel submitted before the court that on receipt of the remaining documents, the matter as regards disbursement of compensation, be that on account of injuries suffered/sustained or death of the victims, would be processed without any further delay.
“Let a specific affidavit indicating the tangible progress, in terms of the statement made by counsel for the respondents be furnished on or before the next date”, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal directed.
