HC issues warrant against Pr Secy Forest

Srinagar, Aug 30: The High Court has issued bailable warrants against the Principal Secretary Forest Administrative Department in a contempt proceeding for not appearing before the court with regard to release of COLA and other arrears to the retired employees.
Justice Javed Iqbal Wani has issued bailable warrants to the tune of Rs 10, 000 against the respondent which the court said to be executed through concerned Sr. Superintendent of Police (SSP). The warrants have been issued as none appeared before the court on behalf of the respondents.

The Managing Director Forest Development Corporation in his compliance to the basic judgment have forwarded a communication to the Administrative Department for allocation of funds to the tune of Rs. 93 lakhs (approx) but the same have not been released so far.
As such the court had issued notice to the respondent to appear through virtual or physical mode before the court to explain as to why the judgment has not been implemented till date.
The court in view of the stand taken by the Managing Director had issued notice to the Principal Secretary in the first instance to appear through virtual or physical mode before this Court on next date of hearing so as to explain as to why the judgment of the writ Court has not been implemented.
“None appears for the respondents so much so respondent-1 as well is not present either through virtual mode or physical mode. Under these circumstances Registry is directed to issue bailable warrants to the tune of Rs. 10,000/- for securing the presence of respondent-1 to be executed through SSP concerned. List on 16th September 2025”, Justice Wani directed
The issue pertains to the release of entire withheld dues on account of COLA, Leave Salary and 6th Pay Commission arrears by the State Forest Corporation in favour of the retired employees of the Corporation.
