HC directs JMC to take action under law, file ATR

JAMMU, Dec 3: In a petition filed by Prof S K Bhalla highlighting unauthorized construction by former Revenue Minister, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner to file Action Taken Report (ATR) within three weeks.
The petitioner is seeking directions to Commissioner JMC to perform its statutory duties under J&K Control of Building Operations Act, 1998 by initiating appropriate action against former Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla for raising 1724 sq ft illegal construction at first floor and 1134 sq ft at ground floor of his palatial house at Deeli in violation of the approved plan.
After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Rahul Raina and Suraj Singh appearing for the petitioner, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat directed Jammu Municipal Commissioner to take action warranted under law in regard to alleged major violation resorted to by former Revenue Minister in construction of his palatial house.
Justice Bhat also issued notices to the Commissioner/ Secretary GAD, Commissioner/ Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Commissioner JMC and former Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla returnable within three weeks.
