JAMMU, Dec 22: The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu today strongly condemned the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old Hindu man, in Bangladesh and expressed serious concern over the safety and security of religious minorities, particularly Hindus.
Addressing press conference, President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, Nirmal K Kotwal, along with other office bearers and members of the Bar, expressed deep anguish and shock over this inhuman and barbaric act. The Bar Association strongly condemned the incident and emphasized that mob violence in the name of religion or blasphemy is a gross violation of human rights and the rule of law.
The Association urged the Government of Bangladesh to conduct a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation, ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice and take concrete steps to protect religious minorities so that such horrific incidents are not repeated in the future.
The Bar Association also called upon the Government of India to take up the matter at the appropriate diplomatic level to ensure the safety, dignity and fundamental rights of minorities living in neighboring countries.
In this regard, a protest will be held tomorrow at District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu, President of the Bar Association announced.
