SRINAGAR, June 15: High Court Bar Association announced to boycott the inauguration of State Judicial Academy Complex by Chief Justice of India Justice Altamas Kabir, a statement of the lawyers body said.
The statement said that in view of the political over-tunes of the function which is to be presided by State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Bar Association feels handicapped in participating such a function which is politically oriented.
Bar, in the statement, has slammed the Coalition Government headed by Omar Abudllah , saying that the independence of judiciary is at stake at the hands of the present Coalition Government which has resulted not only in denial of effective justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but the Kashmiris are being discriminated at all levels.
Referring to the recent selection of Judicial officers through PSC , the statement said that it is put to the notice of the Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir that the selection process was carried out in a manner to demerit the merit particularly in the interview process wherein Justice Varinder Singh was an expert member.
