JAMMU, Aug 5: The tour of 20 students from Haryana to J&K has come to an end today with a felicitation function held in their honour at Nagrota near here.
These students from different sports streams visited various parts of the Valley and the Jammu region under an exchange programme with Army Goodwill School, Arnora in Doda district.
Run by Haryana Government, Motilal Nehru Sports School at Rai, it is a premier institution which has produced many a renowned sportsmen for the country. These students came here to take first hand experience of J&K’s varied culture and learn more about their lives.
On culmination of their tour, their views about the State have undergone a complete change and they were seen to be quit impressed with the development and progressive activities in the State.
Miss Anushtha, who had come to J&K for the first time, said “all my apprehension of J&K State were put to rest, when I interacted with the caring and loving people of the Valley.’’
She said the students visited many villages and were amazed to see the cordial relations and mutual trust between local villagers. The situation in the State has changed a lot and the progress can be seen everywhere, she added.
The students who were from 11th and 12th standard visited a number of Government schools in Doda district where they participated in sports and debate activities with the local students. They also played a friendly volleyball match with village team in Arnora. The students also visited Srinagar and surrounding areas to enjoy the natural beauty of the State.
