Harshdev takes over as chairman of JKNPP

JAMMU, Oct 29: Former Minister and MLA from Ramnagar constituency, Harshdev Singh today took over as the new chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (NPP).
Announcing this in a press conference here today, the party chief Prof Bhim Singh said that after being convinced about the capability and commitment of the upcoming team of the party, he opted out of the chairmanship and nominated Harshdev Singh as new chairman.
The decision was unanimously taken by the party leadership on October 27, during the Accession Day celebrations at Udhampur, he said.
Prof Singh disclosed that the party has also appointed a 17-member Core Group to assist the chairman.
Harshdev Singh, a second time MLA from Ramnagar Assembly segment and a leading lawyer of the J&K High Court, was Education Minister during Mufti Government. Mr Singh said that he would fight for re-organisation of the Jammu and Kashmir which is the prime agenda of the party.
The members of the Core Group are- Balwant Singh Mankotia – State President, B B Kotwal- vice chairman, Yash Paul Kundal (MLA)- general secretary, Faqir Nath Ex-MLA- provincial president, P K Ganjoo, Masood Andrabi, Iqbal Choudhary, S S Jamwal and Daljit Singh – vice presidents, Anita Thakur, Shanti Saroop Basotra, Gh Mohd Shan and JC Jalmeria –general secretaries, Sayed Rafiq Shah (MLC) – president Young Panthers, Farooq Ahmed Dar –provincial president Kashmir, Shakti Gupta-president Panthers Trade Union and Bansi Lal Sharma – Political Advisor to NPP.
