UDHAMPUR, May 30: In a significant move against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police today apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized a quantity of heroin-like contraband near Kalra College on the National Highway.
The operation was led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Udhampur during a routine vehicle checking and patrolling duty. The suspect, upon noticing the police presence, attempted to evade the team by hiding, an act that raised suspicion and prompted immediate action.
During the frisking, police recovered 5.78 grams of a heroin-like substance from the possession of the individual identified as Sunil Kumar, S/o Kali Dass, R/o Satani near the Air Force Station, Udhampur. He was arrested on the spot.
A case under FIR No. 192/2025 has been registered at Police Station Udhampur under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover the broader nexus, if any.
