JAMMU, June 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police today booked a notorious criminal from the Miran Sahib area under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Identified as Aniket Mottan of Bahadur Khan, Miran Sahib, the accused has a long history of involvement in serious criminal activities.
Despite multiple FIRs and previous arrests, he continued to pose a threat to public peace and security in the area.
A police official said Aniket was repeatedly involved in violent and unlawful acts, and legal action had so far failed to deter him.
As such, authorities considered his preventive detention under PSA necessary to safeguard public order, he said.
According to him, the PSA warrant, issued by the District Magistrate Jammu, was executed by Police Station Miran Sahib on Tuesday with the subsequent lodging of the accused in District Jail Rajouri.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, with active coordination by SHO Miran Sahib and under the close supervision of SDPO R S Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
