JAMMU, Feb 7: Police today claimed to have booked a hardcore criminal from the Bishnah area under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged him in Bhaderwah Jail.
The accused, identified as Baldev Raj, a resident of Kothe Chorli, Bishnah, was detained under the PSA after the District Magistrate, Jammu, issued formal detention orders, a police official said.
He said several FIRs are already registered against him in different cases in Jammu district, and despite repeated arrests, he had managed to secure bail from courts on multiple occasions.
The police official further stated that to prevent him from continuing his criminal activities, a detailed dossier was prepared and submitted, following which the District Magistrate, Jammu, approved his detention under the stringent law.
Pertinently, the arrest and detention were carried out by a team from Police Station Bishnah led by the SHO concerned, under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu IH Rather.
