JAMMU, July 1: A crucial half-kilometre stretch of road from Har-Ki-Pouri to Bahu Lochan Chowk is lying in a dilapidated condition for over a year, causing immense inconvenience to locals and commuters.
According to residents, the road was damaged around a year ago and has since seen no repair or maintenance work. The situation has worsened to the extent that it has become nearly impossible for even pedestrians to walk through the area, let alone vehicles. Large stones and debris have taken over the entire stretch, posing serious risks to commuters and passersby.
“The road is completely washed out and unfit for any form of travel. Elderly people and school-going children are the worst sufferers. In case of a medical emergency, even ambulances cannot navigate through this stretch,” said a local resident.
The road serves as an important link to the Bahu Fort area, a major religious and tourist destination in Jammu. Locals have expressed their frustration over the continued neglect and have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action.
Despite repeated appeals, the road remains in ruins, and residents fear accidents or injuries, especially during the rainy season. They have demanded that the administration treat the matter as urgent and begin restoration work without further delay.
The residents have called upon the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department to inspect the site and initiate repair work at the earliest to restore normalcy and ensure safe movement for all.
