Haq distributes cheques worth Rs 2.33 cr as assistance to labourers

SRINAGAR, June 24: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today said the State Government is committed to uplift the socio-economic status of economically weaker section of the society.
Minister said this while distributing cheques worth Rs 2.33 crore under different state sponsored schemes.  He said Government is aware of the to issues of the common masses especially that of labourers, unemployed youths and other weaker sections. He said steps are being taken for effective implementation of various welfare schemes so that genuine people are benefitted from these schemes.
Under Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board Rules, the Minister distributed Rs 2.25 crore as education assistance to 2921 children of labourers. Under medicial assistance scheme for the labourers, Minister also gave away cheques worth 1.58 lakh to 6 labourers who were injured during work.
Minister also distributed cheques worth Rs 6.15 lakh to three households who lost their lone breadwinners.
