POONCH, May 30: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi the prominent Gujjar leader of the State has reiterated his appeal to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti demanding that a bill be passed in the ongoing session of State Legislative Assembly to continue the promotion of J&K Govt. employees belonging to Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste, other Backward Classes and Resident of Backward areas communities of the State.
Hakla said that in every sphere of life, reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessity for Schedule Tribe, Schedule Caste, Other Backward Classes’ communities.
Hakla said in order to keep them with Government employees belonging to these communities, their reservation in promotions is an essential requirement.
Laying a specific stress on the matter, Hakla said the status of Schedule Tribe granted to the Gujjar & Bakerwal community on April 19, 1991 by Govt. of India has completed 25 years where the Govt. has not been implementing it in letter and spirit to give full benefit of Schedule Tribe Status for the Gujjar & Bakerwal community. The Gujjar & Bakerwal community of J&K is still socially, educationally, economically and politically tagging behind and backward.
