POONCH, Feb 2: Senior Gujjar leader of National Conference (NC) Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi today demanded immediate release of wages of PHE daily wagers who have been denied the same for last two years.
In a statement issued here today, he said that some people of some districts in the State donated the land to PHE for its various schemes and in lieu of that the Department engaged the land owners on the need base and a circular was issued in this regard vide No 17 PW(HYD) of 2013 on April 9, 2013 by the Department.
He said though these land donors are discharging their duties for last two years with full dedication but the Department has failed to pay them the wages for reasons best known to the authorities. He said the families of these daily wagers are at the verge of starvation. Terming it an injustice with these daily wagers Mr Hakla demanded that they be provided justice.
He said on the direction of PHE administrative Department the joint Director Planning PHE and IFC Department in July last year has issued directives to chief engineers of both Kashmir and Jammu to release wages of these daily wagers who have donated land to the department for various scheme on priority basis but the same was not done till date.
Mr Hakla has sought immediate intervention of Governor N N Vohra in the matter.
