New Delhi, Feb 24: The Chairman & Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Kargil Haji Mohmad Hanifa Jan called on Defence Minister Manohar Parikar here today. The CEC was accompanied by District president BJP Unit Kargil, Haji Mohmad Khudam.
During his meeting with Defence Minister, the CEC throughly discussed various issues related to Kargil district which include vocation and handing over of Kurbathang plateau from army to civil adminstration at an earliest for the expansion of Kargil town as the population of town is increasing day by day for which the minister assured an early action in the matter by consulting the concerned authorities.
Haji Hanifa while expressing his anguish over the recent recuritment of Ladakh Scout which was held in Leh last year said to the minister their was bais in Army recruitment. The Minister assured the CEC that in future the due share for kargil will be provided and a special drive for unemployed youths of Kargil shall be conducted in near future.
The CEC also requested the Defence Minister for opreating of IL-76 from Jammu and Srinagar to Leh for the thousands of stranded passengers of Kargil who include patients, students etc. On this issue the minister directed the concerned authorities to arrange IL-76 from Jammu and Srinagar to Leh within a week time.
The issue of engaging of local porters in place non local porters in Army works was also dicussed during the meeting.
Later the CEC invited the Minister Defence to visit kargil to see the ground realities faced by the people there. The Minister accepted his invitation and will be visiting Kargil in the month of April 2016.
The CE KREDA, Kacho Ahmad Khan was also present during the meeting.
