Habitual offender booked under PSA

RAMBAN, Apr 1: Police here today booked a notorious habitual offender and alleged bovine smuggler under the stringent PSA.
Police sources informed that the action was carried out under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta.
The accused, identified as Aamir Mir, son of Bahar Mir, resident of Bankoot in Tehsil Banihal, was detained under an order issued by the District Magistrate Ramban.
According to Police, the accused has a history of repeated involvement in bovine smuggling cases and has been named in eight FIRs registered across multiple Police Stations in the Jammu region between 2022 and 2025 and the cases included violations under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, the Motor Vehicles Act and relevant sections of BNS along with rules governing the transportation of animals.
Police stated that despite repeated legal actions the accused continued his involvement in unlawful activities, posing a threat to public order.
In view of his persistent conduct, authorities invoked PSA to prevent further offences.
Following the execution of the detention order, Aamir Mir was taken into custody and lodged in Bhaderwah Jail on March 31, officials stated.
