UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: A notorious drug peddler has been detained for solitary confinement under Section 111 of BNS.
The accused, namely Vikas Sharma alias Psycho, son of Ved Raj Sharma of Himbra, Udhampur, was apprehended on August 21, 2025 during routine checking at Tikri when he along with his associate was riding a motorcycle coming from Jammu towards Udhampur.
During personal search, 8.62 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. Accordingly, case FIR No. 131/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rehambal and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation in the said case, it was established that the accused Vikas Sharma is involved in continuing offences under the NDPS Act. On scrutiny of records, the accused has been found previously booked in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 335/2019, FIR No. 529/2019, FIR No. 505/2022 and FIR No. 77/2024, all U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Udhampur.
Considering his repeated involvement in drug trafficking activities, Section 111 BNS has been invoked in the instant case as the matter qualifies under the organised crime category.
