Gurpurab celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety across region

JAMMU, Jan 5: The Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of the 10th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, was celebrated with great religious fervour, devotion, and enthusiasm across the region today.

The main function in Jammu was organized by the District Gurdwara Paerbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu at Gurdwara Yaadgar Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Lower Gumat, Jammu.

The devotees in large number started gathering at this Gurdwara to pay their obeisance and seek the blessings of the great Guru. The Gurdwara premises was beautifully decorated by the management committee, and devotees began arriving early in the morning to participate in the sacred celebrations.
Local Ragi Jathas, including Ragi Daljeet Singh, Ragi Balbir Singh, and Ragi Parvinder Singh, along with prominent Ragis and Parcharaks from outside Jammu and Kashmir, enthralled the Sangat through soulful Shabad Kirtan, highlighting the higher values of life, righteousness, and communal harmony.
The renowned Hazuri Ragi Jatha of Bhai Kuldeep Singh and Bhai Arvinder Singh Noor from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar also recited Shabad Kirtan and enlightened the congregation on the life, teachings, and glorious history of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Eminent Sikh scholar and preacher Prof Sarabjit Singh Dhunda of Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Ludhiana, delivered an insightful Katha, narrating significant historical events from the life of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and highlighting his unparalleled sacrifices made for the protection of the oppressed and for safeguarding religious freedom against forced conversions.
Ranjit Singh Tohra, president, DGPC Jmamu while addressing the gathering shed light on the life and unmatched sacrifices of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Civil and Police Administration, PDD, PHE, JMC, CMO Jammu, Fire Services Department, and others for rendering their services.
Balvinder Singh, vice president, DGPC called upon community leaders and the Sangat, to engage in sincere introspection to identify the reasons and shortcomings that have hindered the effective redressal of the community’s genuine demands.
Surjit Singh, Secretary, coordinated the stage proceedings during the function.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included DGPC members- Ranvir Singh (Joint Secretary), Harjit Singh, Jagpal Singh (Cashier), Tejinder Singh, Avtar Singh, and several prominent personalities such as Vikram Randhawa (MLA), Harbans Singh (Ex-Minister), Ajay Sadhotra (Ex-Minister), Rattan Lal Gupta (Provincial President, NC), Jatinder Singh Lucky, Tejinder Singh Aman, Gurmit Singh Jimmy, Rakesh Singh, Gurjit Singh Honey, Varinder Singh Sonu (Spokesperson, PDP), Surinder Singh Shingari, Narinder Singh Khalsa (President, Shiromani Akali Dal – Amritsar), Ranjeet Singh (President, Tankers Union), among others.
Reports of Gurpurab celebrations were also received from various districts of Jammu region.
